This week... no, this month... well, the past 2 months!

Sorry it's been so long since our last post! We've been busy!

From Belle:

I just finished To Kill a Mockingbird. I loved it! :)

We've made some changes to our yard this past week:

On Friday we made a fort out of just sticks, branches and leaves! We named it the 'Tea Tree' and right now we're using it as our clubhouse.

Mom has a thing with reclaimed wood, and when she saw piles of old wood in front of a neighbor's house she couldn't resist. There was an old tire amongst mom's soon-to-be shelves...

hence our new tire swing!! Dad helped us put it up on Saturday, and it's really fun.

A few weeks ago we went to Appomattox Court House, where Lee surrendered to Grant at the end of the Civil War!

It was really cool, and we learned a lot. We learned that Appomattox Court House is the town thingy and Appomattox Courthouse is the actual courthouse... it's rather confusing! So it turns out neither Lee nor Grant ever stepped foot in the courthouse!

On Friday we had a choir performance.

We had some technical diffuculties with 'You're a Grand Old Flag'...

Gabby had a speaking part...

...And so did Lily and Juliet!

 A recipe:

My Rice Pudding

Makes about 1 - 3 servings, depending on how much you like it! Also, I don't exactly measure, I just kind of  eyeball everything - I take after mom and grandpa I guess - so don't worry about it being exact! ;)

Ingredients

2 cups cooked rice
(about) 1/2 cup raisins
Several dashes of cinnamon
Some nutmeg
A dash of cloves
1 cup of milk... but you may need more...
1/2 cup of sugar? (maybe more... like I said, I didn't measure!)
A little vanilla

Directions

Put it all in a saucepan and let it simmer, but don't let it burn!  Keep stirring until it's your desired consistency. It's that simple! :)

Lily made these adorable little parfaits for us for lunch a few days ago:

And she and Juliet have been reading and writing really well!

They have also been doing things like building and painting tables,

and sliding down slides into blankets. ;)

And as for Rush...

Yes, he discovered where his snacks are!
He loved the goats at a friend's farm we went to! (I did too, I might add. My new favorite animal!)

He also has enjoyed his various nighttime activities...

I think that's it for me!! :)

 From Gabriella:

I have been baking a lot lately, and have made

a cake,

cake pops,

and fondant.

I also have been learning French on Duolingo.com:

And playing my guitar:

It has been really fun!
